CEDEX (Centro de Estudios y Experimentación de Obras Públicas) is an autonomous public research agency aimed at providing technical consultancy to the Spanish Ministry of Transports and to develop research in the different fields of Civil Engineering. It was founded in 1957. It comprises eight major research centres that cover some of the thematic areas of civil engineering: Water, Structures and Materials, Harbours, ports and Coasts, Transport and Mobility, Roads, Sustainability, Ecological Transition, Geotechnical Engineering, Railway Interoperability, Historical Heritage of Public Works, Circular Economy, and Knowledge Transfer.
This variety of research centres makes it possible to have a global view of the Civil Engineering problems tackled by GEOLAB. The centre employs around 420 people.

PhD. in Civil Engineering
José is the head of CTB in which many tests have been performed for several international research projects, mainly devoted to railway infrastructure. technical reports on building and road pathologies, design on marine geotechnical structures and supervision of dam maintenance works. He has a vast experience in laboratory tests and geotechnical normalization.
Degree in Geology and Master in Engineering Geology
Maria is responsible for material characterization used in CEDEX Track Box. Her job also includes the design of the physical model installation and the coordination with the rest of the CTB team.
